Madonna's firth album Erotica Madonna’s firth album had the flamboyant title Erotica, which told everyone about its concept of sexuality and relationship between persons. Erotica became Madonna’s firth studio album; she released it in October, 1992. Madonna, Shep Pettibone and André Betts became its producers. Together with Erotica album Madonna released her first book titled SEX. The book was extremely controversial and included soft-core pornographic photographs of sexual acts, showed relationships of lesbians, male homosexuals, sadomasochists and so on. Like in previous albums in Erotica Madonna took part in songs creating, thus most part of Erotica’s songs included her lyrics. Each track is a combination of sexuality and stories about sexual relationship, which are not tied with romantic novels according to album’s concept. Album included such singles as Erotica, Deeper and Deeper, Bad Girl, Rain and others. In Erotica producers realized a mix of dance music, hip hop and jazz-affected club beats. One of such songs is In This Life. Madonna included Erotica, Fever, Bye Bye Baby, Deeper And Deeper, Rain, Why's It So Hard and In This Life on her 1993 The Girlie Show Tour. The single Erotica charted for a total of 18 weeks in US charts. It took places in the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot 100 Airplay chart. RIAA certified it Gold. There were recorded three different versions of Erotica: the original demo, the album version and the song Erotica, which was created especially for the book SEX, 1992. The single was remixed by William Orbit and Madonna included this remix in 1998 album Ray of Light. The music video for Erotica single is one of Madonna's most infamous videos; it was fashion photographer Fabien Baron who became its director. The second single released from album Erotica was Deeper and Deeper. The song was extremely successful. It went top ten on both sides of the Atlantic and topped the Billboard dance charts. Madonna sang Deeper And Deeper on her The Girlie Show Tour, 1993. The song was "Re-Invented" on Madonna’s Re-Invention Tour. It was a slow cut jazz version with trumpets playing, and an up-right bass. The song was popular in Netherlands, France, Canada, Sweden, UK and others, where it took good positions in charts, in US and Canada it was the top song for some time. Bye Bye Baby was the final Madonna's single release from Erotica album. The single was presented to the public only in Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Japan, where it took 15th, 15th and 43th places. In September 1993 Madonna performed Bye Bye Baby live at the MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna got mostly positive critics on her Erotica album; Rolling Stone wrote that this album is one of best Madonna’s albums. The Erotica project had great commercial success. Madonna’s Erotica took peak places in numerous countries, where it got perfect certifications. The album produced six singles and it was popular at the dance club circuit.
