Madonna » Songs » True Blue

In the fall 1986 Madonna released the third single True Blue from her album of the same name. In collaboration with Stephen Bray Madonna again became both author and producer of the song.

This time they used pop and doo wop styles, which turned the song in a combination of 1950s bubblegum pop with 1980s teen pop. And this combination was their best bet. True Blue became Madonna’s new super hit. This is a typical example of mid-80’s pop anthem. The lyrics of True Blue are easy and bright. Fun and happy emotions that everyone can sing along are heard in the song. This is the tune of merry, camp and pop music. Madonna's voice is rather weak on this song and not as strong as on Papa Don't Preach and Live To Tell. Papa Don't Preach is the song, which makes the one cry and think about severe life. And True Blue is, by contrast, a song about a woman who is happy with her man. She tells everybody that life is wonderful anyway.

True Blue is a fine song for Madonna fans everywhere because its amazing features. But more importantly the lyrics to the song are emotional, heart-felt and have a depth that makes the one think about what message Madonna is trying to get across.
